Villareal have been rising their form lately, especially at El Madrigal, where they have won 5 games in a row. Along with some decent results away, Villareal had been steadily approaching the Champions League spot occupied by Mallorca, but a hard 0-3 defeat at Espanyol last week slowed them down a bit. It was a game where Espanyol scored with some luck and Villareal missed a few great scoring chances, therefore the result is not very realistic. They need a win in this game to get back on track and continue the race, if not for CL, at least for an Europa League spot, where they will be racing along with Getafe, Bilbao or even Sevilla or Mallorca, depending which one of the last two mentioned will grab the 4th place.

Villareal will most likely field a 4-3-3 formation against a sluggish defense of Atletico Madrid, especially since excellent Marcon Senna will not be available, while also Gonzalo Rodriguez will be sidelined.
